Not all “invisible” cables are created equal. If you are comparing quotes for your balcony, the biggest price difference usually comes down to the grade of steel used. Here is why the cheaper option might be more expensive in the long run.
The Material Difference
In Singapore’s humid climate, the choice of material is critical. Most vendors offer two main options:
-
304 Grade Stainless Steel: This is the entry-level option. While it is strong, it is prone to “tea staining” (surface rust) when exposed to moisture over 3–5 years.
-
316 Marine-Grade Stainless Steel: This is the gold standard. It contains Molybdenum, which makes it highly resistant to salt air and heavy rain. It typically costs 15% to 20% more but lasts significantly longer.
Price Comparison Overview
